Welcome to TikTokTrends

Hi! As you may know, my name is Kerem Inal. I am a freelance journalist/social listener, and this is my weekly newsletter on the trends that I see on TikTok called TikTokTrends.

Every week, I will send a newsletter with 3 main hashtags that I found to be trending on TikTok that past week. Two of them will have a political context to it and the third will be a general topic that I have seen a lot of traction on. I will be adding news articles related to the trends, explaining the context of the video, and will fact-check them if there is a need for it.

Why TikTokTrends?

This newsletter has two main purposes: The first one is to keep track of what is happening in TikTok during the 2020 Election season. The presidential race is getting closer to the end, 3 months left, and people are using TikTok for politics now more than ever. Secondly, I aim to give people, who do not have the time, a window into the TikTok world and explain what is going on there (which is a lot!)
